BEST OF 2010

OMG! OMG! OMG!

Come on kids and vote for this year's 'Best of 2010' on blogTO. Favourite cafes, breakfast spots, new design stores but most importantly the best new fashion store in Toronto this year is easily Pretty Freedom.

Now, you can call me biased but I'd just tell you to beat it! Not only is this store run by quite possibly two of the most beautiful people I know (both inside and out) but I am proud to say that I am a part of something great. Hit up Pretty Freedom for your last minute shopping and grab some MCV snacks for that special someone on your list!

Here is where you can vote for the BEST OF 2010, and you better be voting for PRETTY FREEDOM and MISSCOFFEYVINTAGE:

MCV Goodies!

While this blog is obviously about fashion and other musings I might have, it is primarily a place where I am showcasing the items that I make and providing a forum for people to check it all out in one place. The following items are available at Pretty Freedom (167 Augusta Avenue, Kensington Market, Toronto), as well as tons of other beautiful clothing and one of a kind jewelry from other Canadian designers.

Enjoy
xx

p.s. stay tuned for more pictures of other items in the collection that are available for private sale!

Winter Woes....I think not!

Hello Everyone!

The last time I posted I was able to put a picture of shoes that one could wear during the summer months. These days, it's a little bit colder out there and to stick with a seasonal theme I am posting something that is all about winter.

I am currently debating the purchase of these awesome boots from the new Timberland line:

killer legs and killer heels

Earlier I mentioned that I love books-I completely forgot to mention that I LOVE shoes. Seriously, I think they are so fantastic; you walk tall when you wear a good pair and to be perfectly honest a killer pair of heels can make your legs look fantastic. (seriously ladies I read an article that they supposedly 'kill' your feet in many ways so enjoy the hot legs while you got 'em)

These puppies will surely kill your feet but they are so cute I could eat them. If only I could afford!

bookwormy

I love books, only interesting ones, but I do love them.

The first book to be featured here is one that my sister gave me for Christmas not so long ago. What I love most about this one is that it has excellent explanations of what your vintage dollar means to shopkeepers and how to know exactly what you are buying.

The Little Guide to Vintage Shopping: Melody Fortier

When my lovely friend Mairead McDaid came to visit me (from Northern Ireland) in Toronto many moons ago, she had in tow with her, one of the most incredible books I have ever sniffed the binding of. Inside is a dream world, well more literally a city by city guide of vintage shopping boutiques, that spans the entire globe. Included within its dream granting pages are addresses, intersections and phone numbers of what I'm fairly certain, are some of the BEST shops in all the land....I'm proud to say many of the shops listed in the Toronto section were already on my 'to do' list!

Shopping for Vintage: Funmi Odulate

Antique Hunter

WHOA! New blog friends,

It has come to my attention that people like my stuff! They like it, they really like it! re: Pretty Freedom in Kensington Market blog post all about moi :)

Due to the like factor, I think I should continue to blog and create and live and love so here is my second-to-the-first-of-many-posts.

I am consistently scouring places to find new vintage (oxy moron!) jewels to take apart and re-create for your purchasing pleasure; such endeavours led me to the St. Lawrence Antique Market last Sunday. One sunny afternoon I was sitting outside the Friendly Thai on Queen W perusing the eye candy on the streets when to my amazement this gorgeous girl rode by with one wicked purse. I asked her where she found such a gem and she told me the market! I finally went the following weekend and what a lovely place it was. Here are some pics that documented my trip to the market to see what I could buy….

f diamonds, sequins are a girl's best friend...

jacket by vintage and bronx, shoes by miu miu

Ahh. I want a sequin jacket! I've been pouring through vintage shops all over this city looking for something that is able to say, "HEY look at me, I'm a sequin jacket!" Unfortunately my labours have been fruitless and I've resorted to a google image search managing to find one hot, stainless glass-mosaic inspired jacket! Gorgeous, xx.
